About Bangladeshi taka
Bangladesh has used the taka since 1972, when it replaced the Indian Rupee as the country’s official currency. There are 100 poisha to a taka, and poisha coins are available in denominations of 5, 10, 25 and 50. A new series of taka notes was introduced in 2011, three years after the first 1,000 taka note was issued.
