About

With more than a half a million customers served in 24 counties throughout the Miami Valley, Dayton Power & Light provides electricity across a 6,000 square-mile area of West Central Ohio. Now part of The AES Corporation out of Virginia, DP&L keeps the lights on for customers from its headquarters in Dayton. DP&L celebrated 100 years in business back in 2011, after acquiring two of the state’s first utility companies in 1911 and bringing them together under the Dayton Power and Light Company banner. By 1925 DP&L was also supplying gas and water to residents of the Buckeye State, but shifted focus back to electric in the 1990s.
